MONARCH OF THE SEA

MONOPRINT: UNIQUE. This was made by inking a blank printing plate and removing the ink selectively to create the image, which is in soft black. The plate is then run though an etching press in contact with wet paper. Under the pressure of thousands of pounds, the ink transfers from the plate to the paper, leaving the plate blank. Only one print can be produced, hence "mono" print, sometimes called a monotype.

PAPER: 50 X 70cm, 300 gsm cartridge.

EDITION: Monoprint, 1 of 1 / unique.

SIGNATURE: signed and titled in pencil in the margin.

In a bespoke solid pine frame hand made at our own workshop.

FRAME STYLE: solid wood, deep box style. 45mm deep. Eggshell finish paint. Mounted on bevel-cut conservation mountboard, glazed with optical grade acrylic (preferred by museums due to it's greater safety and protection factors)
